easymarkdown (easymarkdown.io) is a Markdown editor and document store. This page explains what we keep, why, and who else touches it. Questions or requests: hello@easymarkdown.io.
What we store
- Your account: name, email address, a hashed password, and your subscription status.
- Your documents: their text, titles, folders, statuses, and their history (automatic versions and named snapshots).
- API keys: a hash of each key, its name, abilities, expiry and when it was last used. We never store the key itself after showing it to you once.
- Sessions and security events: your session (IP address and browser), and a security log of sign-ins, password changes and similar events. Security log entries never contain your email address.
The free editor at /editor stores your text only in your browser (localStorage). It is
never sent to us.
What we don't do
No ads, no third-party analytics or tracking pixels, and we never sell or share your data for marketing. We only read your documents when you ask us to (for example, to help with a support request).
Who processes data for us
| Service | What for | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Polar | Checkout and billing, as merchant of record | Email, payment details (we never see your card) |
| Resend | Account emails (password links, notices) | Email address, the message |
| DigitalOcean | Hosting, in New York (US) | Everything above |
| Google Fonts | Loading the site's fonts | Your IP address, as for any web request |
How long we keep it
Documents and their history stay until you delete them or your account. Older automatic versions are trimmed as you save (the latest 200 per document are kept). When your subscription ends your account becomes read-only; ask us and we delete your account and all of its documents. Nightly server backups are kept for about two weeks, then deleted.
Your rights
You can see, export (every document through the API) and correct your data at any time, and ask us to delete it by writing to hello@easymarkdown.io.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so by email before it takes effect.
